reputation for saunas, mama sans and general red light naughtiness, there is
more to Wan Chai than girlie bars. Not only does this remain one of Hong
Kong's best nightlife districts - home to some of the oldest pubs in the city
- but it's got nearly as many skyscrapers as Central, local markets to rival
Mongkok and a handful of historical sights. Among these is the blue house
tenement block- one of the few remaining pre-war, Tong Lau style tenement
blocks - that includes stylish wooden staircases and balconies and Golden
Bauhinia Square - the site of the Hong Kong Handover and a daily flag raising
ceremony by the Hong Kong Police. The monthly flag raising by the Hong Kong
Police Pipe band on the 1st of each month is one of Hong Kong's most
