Wed, 08/31/2011 - 10:20 — Anonymous Hongkong Post today (August 31)
announced that a set of stamps will be released for sale together with
associated philatelic products on September 15 to commemorate the centenary
of the University of Hong Kong. The University of Hong Kong was formally
incorporated in 1911 and has since been serving as the cradle of community
leaders, prominent entrepreneurs and accomplished professionals. Apart from
nurturing talents who play an indispensable part in shaping the social and
economic development of Hong Kong, the university is also widely recognised
as a stalwart of academic freedom and excellence. The commemorative stamps
show images of the Main Building - a revered heritage building located on the
university campus - as well as some historical items, each of which has a
special place in the journey over time of this celebrated academic
institution. Official first day covers will be put on sale for $1 each at all
post offices effective from September 1. Meanwhile, stamps and associated
philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha
Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on
the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be
accepted at all philatelic offices from September 1 to 7. Further information
can be obtained from the website of Hongkong Post at www.hongkongpost.com.
